October 24 – 27, 2019
FRIPP ISLAND, HUNTING ISLAND & DATAW ISLAND
You should be so proud of this event you’ve created. I loved Avon, but I love Pledge The Pink more. With less miles each day, people want to stick around and party and play. I met so many fabulous women! Thank you for the best support group ever! See you in October!
We are tickled pink to call Fripp home base
> Walk or take your golf cart to our Fripp & Hunting Island start line. We’ll bus everyone to/from Dataw so you can enjoy the 15 minute scenic ride.
> Everything’s better with friends, especially when there are 1500 of them! It’s going to be pee-your-pants laughter and shenanigans 24/7!

This is Why We Walk
It’s a breast cancer event that truly benefits breast cancer patients and makes a positive impact on lives. The mammogram donations campaign is so inspiring, and I also appreciate that PTP funds the often-forgotten patient services, such as transportation to treatment. These needs are REAL and without the help PTP/we provide, these women would continue to struggle or do without treatment.
FAQs
Are we still island hopping this year or is everything on Fripp?
Yes and yes! It’s the best of all worlds!
We think it’ll be an absolute hoot and a half to have everyone staying together on Fripp Island and for us to use the beautiful resort as our home base.
From Fripp, we’ll be able to walk to our other island courses: we’ll do a day on Hunting/Little Hunting, a day on Fripp, and a day on Dataw!
And instead of going our separate ways at the finish lines, we’ll have all sorts of shenanigans and activities to enjoy with our new besties. Or you can kick back at your rental house and just soak up the beauty.
A jam packed itinerary of camp happenings and hoopla will be available in late spring so stay tuned for a list of antics and mischievousness!
1500 FlockStars on Fripp sounds amazing! But is there room for our whole flock?
The resort is home to over 10,000 during peak summer months so our little group is no biggie for these guys!
The resort boasts seven restaurants. We’ll also be doing some old fashioned BBQs, smores bonfires, beach picnics, and probably a lowcountry boil is in your future. Lots more info on this in the months ahead.
In addition to the empty beaches, the seven resort pools, the jetski and boat rentals, the little grocery store, the marina, the golf, the tennis, and all the other resort amenities… Fripp’s got ya covered.
They’ve got a zillion golf carts for everybody so once you check in, you can kiss the car goodbye for the rest of the weekend! Psst – most of their rentals come with a golf cart and you can always rent more for the whole gang.
Who should attend Pledge the Pink?
Anyone that thinks cancer sucks.
We seem to appeal to folks who celebrate life, savor sweet victories, embrace flamingos, and enjoy a mean game of giant Jenga.
Bring your besties, bring your kids, bring your mom, husband, neighbors, boss, barista, your middle-aged single brother-in-law… (please bring him)!
All ages and fitness levels are welcome, supported, and encouraged, here. We don’t care if you run, walk, crawl, push a stroller, or piggy back across the finish line.
We just want you to revel in that sense of accomplishment and inspire everyone around you.
And having fun doing it.
So men can come? This isn’t just a girl thing?
We love men! Please bring your husbands, brothers, sons, and all the fellas you know!
The guys always have a blast and they typically have the best costumes. If your boys would rather golf, play tennis, fish, kayak, jetski, play poker, or chill on a hammock while you’re kicking cancer’s butt, then they will love Fripp!
A lot of groups will rent a “boy’s house” and a “girl’s house” next to each other. Those are typically the houses with the lights still on and the laughter still hollering at 3am. So much fun!
What are the hours every day? Is there a certain time limit to finish the course?
We plan our courses with tides and traffic in mind so our start times vary between 7-9am. Most people finish our 10 mile courses in 3ish hours but you’ve got 4.5 hours to complete it, so enjoy!
And yes, we do offer short-cuts for those of you that want an abbreviated version of the fun. The after-parties usually crank up about two hours after the START and go for a good four hours, depending on what other activities are planned.
When should I get there?
Immediately. It’s beautiful here! But in case that doesn’t work for you: you’ll want to be in town at least Thursday through Sunday of race weekend (Oct 24-27).
And you’ll probably want to stick around to enjoy Sunday Funday, Fripp style! So yeah, try to stay until Monday if you can.
If you want to come for a week or more, you’ll be in good company. Tons of our come early and stay late, making Pledge the Pink an annual vacation with friends and family!
Budgeting for Your Weekend
About 75% of our registrants come from out of town (49 states and 17 countries in 2018) and they tell us that $300-$500 pretty much sums up your weekend expenses, especially if you buddy up on accommodations.
Share a house or condo and save even more money– splitting up a bigger place that sleeps several people is much cheaper AND you can have breakfast and dinner at home vs going out to eat.
There are also 100 RV and camp sites on adjacent Hunting Island State Park that are extremely affordable. Ranger Weatherford and the South Carolina Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department are excited to Pledge the Pink with us!
Use our Facebook group to meet your new besties and save money by carpooling down here with folks in your area.
